Wanda Lee Woods Blackwell, 86, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2013, surrounded by family. Wanda was born at the Carter 9 Oil Camp near Fairfax, Oklahoma to Charles A. Woods and Maude Ellen Kirk Woods. Wanda graduated from Tulsa Central High School and retired as Office Manager for Fifth & Boston Corporation. She was married to Lee Blackwell for 63 happy years together. They loved entertaining, playing bridge, fishing and traveling. They were devoted parents to their girls, and became very involved with horse showing. Wanda was a long-time Secretary of OK Hunter/Jumper Assoc. Later, she and Lee played bridge weekly at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Claremore. Although Wanda had very limited eyesight in later years, she was able to remain in her home and loved being independent. She was always cheerful, positive and affirming. She had a deep, abiding faith in God. She adored her family, and was happiest when spending time with them. Wanda will be missed by many: sisters Oma Brehm and Angie Buxton, daughters Debbie Blackwell and Tami Jennings (husband Lyndon), granddaughters Elizabeth “Gracie” Crose (husband Billy) and Emily Ingram (husband Adam), grandson Robbie Stauffer, granddaughter-in-law Kimberly Stauffer, greatgrandchildren Dominic and Alyssa Stauffer, and Ellee, Averee, Aree and Bentlee Ingram, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A private celebration of life is planned. A donation in Wanda’s memory in lieu of flowers may be made to the Wm. W. Barnes Children’s Advocacy Center in Claremore. This obituary was published in the Tulsa World on 1/27/2013.
