Martha Midkiff Watkins, 83, passed away on January 27, 2013, in Dallas, Texas, after a short struggle with Lung Cancer. Martha was born to John Orville and Effie (Fox) Midkiff on April 13, 1929, in Wichita, KS and grew up in Guthrie, OK. After graduating from high school, she attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee and then transferred to Oklahoma State University (Oklahoma A & M), majoring in Interior Design. She married Robert Eugene Watkins in 1951. During their marriage, Martha helped to establish the gift shop at Saint Francis Hospital and owned and operated Martha’s Shop, a small successful gift shop in Tulsa; but most of all, she enjoyed being a devoted wife and mother. Martha was very active in the Tulsa community. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Association, Tulsa PanHellenic Association, Saint Francis Hospital Auxiliary, Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association, and Children’s Medical Center. Martha is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert. She is survived by her daughter, Jane and son, Robert. The family would like to thank Faith Presbyterian Hospice for their care at the end. Martha will be interred at Memorial Park in Tulsa, OK.
