Guardsman to be promoted to general

Col. Kyle Goerke is set to become the newest general in the Oklahoma National Guard on Thursday at the state Capitol.
Goerke, of Watonga, will be promoted to brigadier general in a ceremony Thursday afternoon in the Capitol’s Blue Room. He currently serves as the Army National Guard assistant to the judge advocate general of the U.S. Army.
He graduated from Watonga High School in 1977 and earned degrees from Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
He joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 1988 on a direct commission to the Judge Advocate General Corps. He has served in many positions in the guard, including the state judge advocate for the Oklahoma Army National Guard.
As a civilian, Goerke operates his own law firm in Watonga.
