Shock forward Scholanda Dorrell said she had a good time Thursday modeling new team attire featuring the Osage Casino logo.
“This is a great event, a great opportunity on both sides, and I generally was enjoying myself,” she said.
It was part of a rollicking press conference at the BOK Center for the Shock and Osage Casino to announce they had entered into a multi-year marquee partnership.
The Shock will wear the script orange Osage Casino logo on their game jerseys, starting with the 2013 WNBA season.
That will be one of clearest signs of a partnership designed to benefit both entities and stabilize the Shock's position within the Tulsa community.
Shock president Steve Swetoha described it as "one of the most significant milestones in franchise history. It shows that organizations like Osage are willing to be aligned with our brand and make this thing really take off in the coming years.”
Osage has partnered with the franchise since it moved from Detroit to begin the 2010 season. WNBA president Laurel Richie said the new agreement represents "a deepening of that partnership and a deepening of (the WNBA’s) roots in the city of Tulsa.”
“We are proud to help support the growth of our local professional basketball team,” said Neil Cornelius, CEO of Osage Casino.
