Ronald T. Martin, born September 1, 1936 at McAlester, OK, died January 29, 2013 in Tulsa OK. He was employed 29 years as an engineer with Douglas Aircraft, North American Aviation Inc., North American Rockwell and Rockwell International. During his career he was a member of Technical Staff 6, Specialty Thermo Dynamics, Apollo Saturn program, B-1A and B-1B, Space Shuttle Orbiter, expert in pay load bay doors and Honeycomb Graphite. Ron graduated with a Master’s Degree from TU and a Bachelor Degree from OU in Mechanical Engineering. Ron wrote his thesis Humid, Ebb and Flow Moisture in composite materials. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and volunteered at the shooting range with longtime friends. Some of Ron’s most memorable times were spent with his wife and daughter and his trips to McAlester to be with his mother. Survived by his wife, Jerri Martin of 56 years of Tulsa, daughter, Ronna Robins and husband David Wasson of Tulsa; sister, Mary and husband Tom Evans of Tulsa. He had many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Y.W. “Bounce” Martin and Mary Cha Martin. Funeral service will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 East 91st Street. His last days were made bearable by the Palliative Care Team and nurses at 14 West, St. John Hospital.
