Watonga man is newest Oklahoma National Guard general

OKLAHOMA CITY - Brig. Gen. Kyle Goerke became the newest general in the Oklahoma National Guard on Thursday at the state Capitol.
Goerke, of Watonga, was promoted to brigadier general in a ceremony Thursday afternoon in the Capitol's Blue Room.
At present, he is the National Guard assistant to the judge advocate general of the Army.
He graduated from Watonga High School in 1977 and obtained degrees from Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma law school.
He joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 1988 on a direct commission to the Judge Advocate General Corps.
He has served in many positions in the Guard, including the state judge advocate for the Oklahoma Army National Guard.
As a civilian, Goerke operates his own law firm in Watonga.
