Letter to the Editor: A mess

Tulsa's 193rd East Avenue from 11th Street to 61st Street isn't mentioned in any of the Fix-Our-Streets articles, but it is a mess. It's the same two-lane road with four-way stops at 11th, 21st, 31st, 41st and 51st streets.
The backups at 41st and 51st streets, both ways after 4 p.m., are almost a mile. Fifty years ago, with a 10-car-a-day traffic count, that was OK. But now it's a major thoroughfare. The same problem exists between 41st and 51st streets to a lesser degree. Housing additions keep springing up and continually make matters worse. A previous letter was in regard to I-44 from the convergence of it and U.S. 412 going east. That gridlock is partially due to former U.S. Reps. Steve Largent and Tom Coburn (now Sen. Coburn) rejecting allocated federal dollars we had paid in taxes, which other states gladly accepted.
U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe tried valiantly to get the money reallocated but it was too late.
