Dawson community bridge dedication set

A bridge in the 2100 block of North Darlington Place will be named the W. Doyle Young Memorial Bridge on Saturday.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett and District 3 City Councilor David Patrick will be on hand for the dedication, which will take place at 4 p.m. at the bridge.

An exuberant leader in the Dawson community, Young was often referred to as the "mayor of Dawson."

OSU medical school planning Scrub Run

The Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine will host its annual Scrub Run on March 2.

Proceeds from the run will benefit Lifeshare Transplant Donor Services of Oklahoma and the local chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The event includes a 5k race and a 1-mile fun run. The 5k race costs $20 for early registration and $25 for race-day registration. The fun run costs $10 for early registration and $15 for race-day registration.

Early registration is available until Feb. 11.

A free health fair with screenings will be held after the race.

Mediation program seeking volunteers

The Early Settlement Mediation program is recruiting volunteers to serve the court system as mediators who are trained to settle disputes and lawsuits.

The program is sponsored by the Supreme Court of Oklahoma and Tulsa Municipal Court.

People interested in serving as mediators should email larmstrong@cityoftulsa.org.

Completed applications must be received no later than Feb. 12. Training is free for candidates who are selected to become mediators and who make a commitment to volunteer.

The 2013 training will be held March 20-22. Participants must attend all three days of training.
