A man who police said assaulted an employee with pepper spray while robbing a restaurant Monday was arrested Thursday, hours after another restaurant was robbed.
Daniel Ryan McNamara, 28, was booked in the Tulsa Jail on Thursday evening on two complaints of robbery plus single complaints of possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said the Pie Hole Pizzeria, 2708 E. 15th St., was robbed Monday. The robber approached an employee, sprayed him with pepper spray, took cash from the register and fled.
An employee followed the robber out and was able to get the tag number of his vehicle, which police traced to a relative of McNamara's.
The relative told police that McNamara had stolen the car from her earlier Monday.
The Subway restaurant at 2202B S. Jackson Ave. was robbed about 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Employees said the man approached the counter, said he had a gun and demanded money. The clerk complied, and the robber fled.
An employee was able to get a partial tag number that closely matched that of the stolen vehicle.
The description of the robber - a white man in his mid-20s with black-frame glasses - matched the description of the man who robbed the Pie Hole on Monday, police said.
Detectives were able to track down the vehicle and saw McNamara getting out of it. He was then arrested.
According to the arrest report, officers found a Subway bag on the front seat, cash in his back pocket, and a syringe and spoon with what appeared to be heroin residue in a pocket.
Both clerks identified McNamara as the man who robbed the stores, the report states.
McNamara has unresolved charges in Tulsa County District Court in connection with a Dec. 22, 2011, robbery, court documents show.
He remains in custody with bail set at $109,250, Tulsa Jail records show.
