NORMAN – Angel Rodriguez made two free throws with five seconds remaining, allowing Kansas State to withstand a furious Oklahoma rally and win this afternoon at the Lloyd Noble Center, 52-50.

The Sooners inbounded after Rodriguez's second free throw, but Sam Grooms could only manage a long, forced 3-point heave at the buzzer. It airballed, and OU dropped to 14-6 overall, 5-3 in the Big 12 Conference.

Kansas State improved to 17-4 and 6-2 and within a game of first-place Kansas in the Big 12 standings.

OU shot poorly and played sloppily but hung in before making a late charge. Romero Osby's three-point-play with 1:58 left brought the Sooners within 50-45. Grooms hit a straightaway 3 to cut it to 50-48 with 54 seconds left, and then he converted a left-handed layup with 13 seconds left.

K-State inbounded to Rodriguez, its point guard, and he blew by Grooms before being fouled by OU's Amath M'Baye and making his free throws.
