Man injured in Cherokee County gas explosion

A Briggs man was injured when his home was destroyed in a gas explosion Saturday night.
Briggs is east of Tahlequah in Cherokee County.
The explosion happened about 7 p.m. near Oklahoma 51, about 200 yards from a grocery store, Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault said.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was flown to a Tulsa hospital, Chennault said. His condition is unknown.
No other homes were damaged by the explosion, authorities said. No other injuries reported.
Chennault said the cause of the explosion is under investigation.
