House Bill 1558

Author: Rep. Paul Wesselhoft, R-Oklahoma City.

What it does: Allows guns on public transportation buses. Under current law, carrying a gun onto a bus is a felony.

Status: Assigned to House Judiciary Committee.

House Bill 1347

Author: Rep. Dan Kirby, R-Tulsa

What it does: Requires hospitals and other birthing facilities to perform a pulse oximetry screening on every newborn. Pulse oximetry detects congenital heart defects by measuring saturated oxygen in hemoglobin.

Status: Assigned to House Public Health Committee.

HB 1261

Author: Rep. Mike Shelton, D-Oklahoma City.

What it does: Removes the cap on lottery prizes. The Lottery Commission says lifting the cap would allow it to pay out more in prizes, which in turn would cause more tickets to be bought and ultimately generate more revenue.

Status: Assigned to House Appropriations and Budget Committee.

Author: Sen. Josh Brecheen, R-Coalgate

What it does: Constitutional amendment limiting the Legislature to meeting only once every other year.

Status: Assigned to Senate Rules Committee.
