In his letter " 'Getting' bin Laden," (Jan. 28) Henry Murphy, a likely tea partier, expresses sarcastic disappointment that President Obama was not responsible for bin Laden's demise. He is especially disappointed that the president was not riding in one of the helicopters.
Well, here is some news for him: The president ordered the mission against the advice of many advisers. Care to guess who would have been held responsible if the mission had failed? Can you say Jimmy Carter and the mission to free the Iran hostages? That result was a one-term president.
Quarterbacks (presidents) get the credit for success and the blame for failures.
