Letter to the Editor: Disgusted

I have been disgusted for some time with the negative moral implications of the comic strip Baby Blues.

On Jan. 27 it hit a new low. Two thoughts came to mind.

1. Think about kids (4-14) What are they going to think with all that thrashing about on the floor with "bom-chicka-wacka" going on? This so-called adult entertainment has no place on the children's pages. This is fit only for lining your bird cage.

And, yes, I know that you purchase the funnies. It may cost you to negate receipt and printing of this item. But you need to consider the real cost - the loss of innocence is irreplaceable.

Of course, this is a rather Victorian viewpoint. But even in today's enlightened age, do you want to be the one to explain this to an inquiring child?

2. Sex is a private thing. That's why there are doors, and fade-outs. It is a personal thing. It is not a spectator sport. This cheapens the whole concept. Leering audiences as well as those who display these private moments do so at the cost of cheapening the whole concept of what really truly love is all about. Notice the fully dressed panel which was labeled "Love" - no grabbing, just happiness.
