The National Rifle Association claims that the earlier ban on assault rifles had no effect on crime. How does it know what might have happened if there had not been a ban? It's hard to believe the ban failed to stop a single person from using an assault rifle to commit a crime.

I don't believe that anyone thinks the new ban will stop most of the violent crimes but if it saves the life of a single child it will be a success. Is the NRA willing to sacrifice a few lives so that the arms manufactures can make more money?
