80 percent rain chance Thursday in Tulsa area

Tulsa World Weather: A new weather site powered by the Tulsa staff of the National Weather Service. The partnership allows Tulsa World readers to receive weather alerts, forecasts and current conditions as the staff issues them.

Tulsa may receive its first measurable rainfall of the month tomorrow.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight, mostly after 3 a.m. Thursday, then an 80 percent chance Thursday during the day in Tulsa.

Additional rain chances are also forecast for Saturday and Sunday.

New rainfall amounts between 0.25 and 0.5 of an inch are possible Thursday, according to the weather service.

So far this month, Tulsa recorded trace amounts of rain. Normal rainfall for this time in February is 0.26 of an inch.

Tulsa's highs are forecast to reach the mid-60s this afternoon, with overnight lows in the low 50s. South to southeast 10-15 mph are also forecast today and tonight, according to the weather service.

Highs in the 60s are forecast each day for the rest of the week except Friday, when highs in the mid-50s are forecast.

Overnight lows are forecast to reach the mid-30s Thursday night, the low 40s Friday night, the low 50s Saturday night, then the mid-30s again Sunday night, the weather service forecasts.

Tulsa's highest temperature so far this month was 69 degrees on Monday. The lowest was 16 degrees on Friday.
