From the first event until the last, the Booker T. Washington boys never slowed down en route to winning the Green Country Conference championship meet at their home pool last Thursday by 140 points.
Ethan Amador, Evan Barton, Noah Eagan, Cale Fussell, Trevor Grant, Thomas Heinrich and Joseph Williams gave the Hornets victories in all three relay events to lead the charge.
Eagan (200 individual medley), Fussell (100 freestyle), Grant (400 freestyle) and Williams (200 freestyle) claimed individual wins for the Hornets. Edison's Jesus Carvajal (50 freestyle and 100 butterfly) and Paul Long (100 breaststroke) along with Memorial's Alex Eagleton (100 backstroke) picked up individual titles.
Edison girls claim conference crown: The Edison girls edged Booker T. Washington by two points to win the Green Country Conference championship.
The big win for the Eagles came in the 200-meter freestyle relay where Nicole Baney, Kat Charles, Gayle Mages and Tosha Olson combined for a .73-second victory over the Hornets.
Baney (100 freestyle), Mages (100 butterfly) and Olson (200 individual medley and 400 freestyle) all picked up individual wins for Edison. Other individual champions included the Hornets' Anders Broussard (50 freestyle), Molly Morse (200 freestyle), Addy Sanchez (100 backstroke) and McKenzie Wilson (100 breaststroke).
Jenks Invitational has pre-state feel: Last weekend's Jenks Invitational gave many area teams a trial run for the state meet in Jenks on Feb. 15-16. The invitational included preliminaries and finals for all events. The Jenks girls were unchallenged in a 218-point victory, while the Bartlesville boys edged Jenks by 36 points and Stillwater by 39.
