Letter to the Editor: Encroachment

It seems the government is encroaching more and more into our daily lives. It wants to tell us what kind of car to drive and how we drive it and what kind of health care we should have.
Vice President Joe "The Sheriff" Biden is telling us what kind of firearm we need for home protection. Even though the president thinks Joe would be a good sheriff I don't agree. Biden says we need a double-barrel shotgun to ward off home invaders. That means two shots, and pray that does the trick.
Many years ago I lived in a state just to the south of here. One day a hurricane roared through the city and left massive devastation. We all had our battery-powered radios tuned to the emergency channel. Almost as soon as the wind died down there were reports of looting downtown (before shopping centers) by marauding bands of thugs. Immediately the police department released a bulletin advising citizens we were on our own since they could not move about. You could almost hear the chang of firearms being chambered with a round. The looting stopped and there were no reports of any home invasions. The word was the thugs were afraid to face an armed citizenry.
Are you listening, Joe?
