Antoine Brown played through a torn anterior cruciate ligament in 2012 to help East Central reach the Class 5A state title game.
Although the knee injury didn’t sideline him, it did derail his hopes of playing major college football.
“OU and all the D-Is dropped me because of my leg,” Brown said. “So it was going to be NEO or D-II.”
Brown signed with Division II power Pittsburg State, which projects him as a defensive end. He will join East Central teammate Deontre Youngblood at Pittsburg State.
“We’re brothers for life now,” Brown said with a smile.
Brown plans on studying construction management.
“They got an absolute steal,” East Central coach Bobby Klinck said. “If he did not have the injury, they wouldn’t have had a chance for him.”
