Signing day: Jenks' Jessi Martin likes family atmosphere in Norman

Jessi Martin, who specializes in the 400- and 800-meter races, was recruited by each of the state’s Division I programs, but decided she liked it best in Norman.
“It’s like a family environment and it was the best overall fit for me,” she said.
Martin hasn’t experienced gold-medal success at the state meet, but her two-mile relay team finished second in 6A last year, the mile relay team was third, and she finished fourth in the 400 and 800 meters.
She plans to be a teacher.
“I love working with kids and I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to be an elementary school teacher.”
