Most of the athletes who signed Wednesday woke up in the morning knowing where they were going to college.
That wasn’t the case with East Central’s Deontre Youngblood.
He was still contemplating his decision when he awakened after four hours of sleep at 6 a.m. Three hours later, he made his decision to sign with Division II power Pittsburg State, which plans to use him as a defensive back and kick returner.
“I talked with my dad until 2 in the morning,” Youngblood said. “I was weighing all my options and making sure I made the right decision.”
Youngblood also considered Central Oklahoma, Missouri Western and Fort Hays State. After signing, he was looking forward to Wednesday night.
“I’ll finally be able to rest and get a good night’s sleep,” Youngblood said.
