Letter to the Editor: Disappointed

The Feb. 1 letter, "Past time," by Mercedes Lackey disappointed me. While I respect her talent and skill writing fantasy novels, her descent into politics was sad. It seemed to be a parroting of partisan Democrat hyperbole: Class war, deliberate misstatement of Republican intents, restrictions on international commerce that would prevent people from protecting their earnings from confiscatory bureaucracies, and calls for spending without heed of our $16 trillion national debt.
Money wisely spent on education is good. Money spent in schools to pay incompetent baby-sitters to follow the latest political fashion is not education. The Chicago school system is an example of paying much and getting little.
