Basketball

NSU men: Lindenwood dominated the final 13 minutes of a 78-66 win over the Northeastern State men's team. Jermaine Brandford scored 22 points to pace NSU (15-6, 8-5 MIAA).

NSU women blow out Lindenwood: The Northeastern State women's team beat Lindenwood, 87-50, inside Jack Dobbins Field House in Tahlequah. The RiverHawks (15-6, 10-3 MIAA) moved into third place in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Sophomore guard Fontana Tate posted a career-high 17 points on 6-for-6 shooting to lead NSU.

Rogers State men: Charlie Shorter scored 25 points to lead Mid-America Christian past Rogers State, 76-72. Kendrell Thompson led the Hillcats with 16 points.

Rogers State women: Rogers State's women's team defeated Mid-America Christian, 84-65, behind 19 points from Ariani Silva and 18 from Rician Walker.

College Athletics

Baker takes new post: Former Rogers State athletic director and Oklahoma State basketball staffer Wren Baker has been named deputy athletic director for external affairs at the University of Memphis. Baker, from Valliant, spent the past two years as athletic director at Northwest Missouri State University. Before that, he was a men's basketball coach and athletic director at Rogers State during a period in which the Hillcats launched an intercollegiate athletics program.

Cross Country

Hoover signs with ORU: A three-time state qualifier, Sapulpa's Abby Hoover has signed to run cross country and track for Oral Roberts.

Softball

Sooners open season in Arizona: Second-ranked Oklahoma will open its season at the Kajikawa in Phoenix. The first game is at 10 a.m. Friday against No. 21 Stanford. OU, last year's runner-up, is coming off its seventh trip to the Women's College World Series.

Cowgirls open season in Utah: Oklahoma State will open its season in St. George, Utah, to compete in the Red Desert Classic. OSU opens against Weber State at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Hurricane opens season in Louisiana: Tulsa will open its season at the LSU Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge, La., with five games over the next three days. First up is a 9 a.m. Friday contest against Hampton.
