17-5 overall, 7-3 Big 12
Catching up: The Sooners followed a lackluster loss at West Virginia by going to Kansas State and winning. A decent week, considering OU was on the road the whole time. All five starters scored in double figures in Manhattan on Wednesday night as the Sooners knocked off K-State 74-68. OU shot much better than it did in an 82-63 loss at West Virginia last Sunday. That day, the Sooners went 5-of-22 behind the 3-point line. Wednesday, they were 10-of-20.
Player to watch: Forward Joanna McFarland. She was easily OU's best player in Morgantown, where she posted team highs of 14 points and 16 rebounds. In Manhattan, with her family in attendance, McFarland had 10 points and a game-high 16 boards. She also played a team-high 38 minutes. McFarland leads the Big 12 Conference with six double-doubles. She has recorded a double-digit rebounding total 11 times in her last 14 games.
Notes
If the season ended today: The Sooners are one game over the halfway point of their Big 12 Conference season. They're in second place with a 7-3 record, trailing 11-0 Baylor.
If the Big 12 tournament ended today, OU would be the No. 2 seed and set to play the winner of West Virginia-TCU in the quarterfinals in Dallas.
Numbers game: Guard Aaryn Ellenberg led OU with 18 points Wednesday at Kansas State. In the process, she passed Dionnah Jackson for 11th place on the school's all-time scoring list.
Guard Sharane Campbell made both of her 3-point shots in Manhattan. She is now 16-for-33 from 3 in conference play after going 2-for-18 in nonconference games.
