G. Ann Wilkerson passed away peacefully Monday, February 4, 2013, in Tulsa, Oklahoma after a long courageous battle with lung cancer. Ann was born in Amarillo, Texas on July 7, 1942 to Earl Parker and Marion Gregory Wilkerson. She spent her early years growing up on a farm in Cordell, Oklahoma before moving to Lake Sahoma, Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1960, and then attended Draughons School of Business. After her teen years of helping her parents at the lake, she started her first job with Standard Oil Company. Ann began her early career in the insurance business and became president of United General Insurance Agency at the age of 24. She started her own agency, The Mark Insurance Agency in 1984, specializing in retail grocery store insurance. She sold her agency in 1997 to Hilb, Rogal and Hamilton Company (The Willis Group) and became semi-retired. Thereafter she formed another company, Life Solutions Inc. She is survived by her life partner, Shelley Worrell, of 29 years, her mother, Marion Wilkerson, sister-in-law, Carol Wilkerson, sister/cousin, Lee Houten, uncle, Tom Wilkerson, aunt, Evelyn Mann, nephews, Jeffrey, Cody, Tyler and wife, Jackie, great nephew, Gavin Wilkerson. She is also sur- vived by Dwayne McGuire and his children, Brandi and Justin McGuire and Leslie Warner who were like family to her. She is predeceased by her father, Earl Parker Wilkerson, grandmother, Elsie Wilkerson, brother, Don Wilkerson, brother/cousin, Tommy Wilkerson and aunts, Sylvia Wilkerson and Betty Pingenot. Ann loved participating in outdoor sports such as fishing, waterskiing, hiking and horseback riding. She loved cowboy movies, football, bird watching and her little cat, Grea’ Baby. Most of all, she loved her family and friends and never lost her faith. She truly loved life. Our heartfelt thanks to all of her wonderful doctors, nurses and most recently to the employees of St. Francis Hospice, with special gratitude to Sydney and Branda. A celebration of Ann’s life will be held Saturday, February 9th, at the New Haven United Methodist Church, 5603 South New Haven, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74135. Telephone 918 743 6491.
