A prisoner being held at the Tulsa Jail died Friday after being transported to an area hospital, the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office reports.
On Friday morning a detention officer at the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center noticed Gwendolyn Kaye Young, 52, was in distress and on-site medical staff began treating her.
Sheriff's Office Maj. Shannon Clark said the detention officer on duty noticed Young just wasn't responding normally.
"He could tell something was wrong," Clark said.
EMSA and Tulsa Fire Department responded and transported Young to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead just after 11 a.m. Friday.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office will determine her cause of death.
Clark said it took sheriff's officers until Friday night to track down Young's family to notify them of her death.
Young, who was booked into the jail on Oct. 16, 2012, was being held without bond on a count of threatening a public official in 2011.
According to court documents, Young called and threatened Judge Daman Cantrell and his court clerk Melissa Norris
