The Tulsa Fire Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire that severely damaged a duplex Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters responded just after 4 p.m. to a duplex in the 100 block of North Delaware Place. Once at the scene, firefighters discovered heavy smoke coming from the structure, Capt. Steve Kendrick said.
A man was also found at the residence with what appeared to be a self-inflicted wound to the neck, Kendrick said.
"The man said he started the fire with gasoline, left and came back," Kendrick said.
The 40-year-old unidentified man was taken by EMSA to an area hospital in serious condition, said EMSA spokeswoman Kelli Bruer.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
