After opening the season with a no-hitter against No. 21 Stanford on Friday, Oklahoma senior pitcher Keilani Ricketts threw another no-hitter for an encore as the No. 2 Sooners beat No. 5 Oregon 12-0 in five innings Saturday morning in the Kajikawa Classic at Tempe, Ariz.
It was Ricketts' 100th career win at OU. The senior lefty had 10 strikeouts. In the two wins, Ricketts has struck out 24 in 12 innings of work. She is the fifth OU pitcher with three career no-hitters.
She joins Lauren Eckermann as the only Sooners to throw no-hitters on consecutive days. Eckermann accomplished the feat on March 3-4, 2007 against Temple and Wichita State, respectively.
Later Saturday afternoon, OU senior Michelle Gascoigne, freshman Taylor Dewbery and sophomore Georgia Casey combined to give up just three hits and one run while recording 10 strikeouts as the Sooners (4-0) beat New Mexico 11-1.
