Sheriff deputies said human remains found near the Arkansas River last month were that of a Tulsa man missing since 2010.
The man was identified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as Thomas Martin, according to a news release from the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of death is pending with the medical examiner, but it is being investigated by the sheriff’s office as a homicide, the release states.
Martin, who was born Jan. 29, 1939, was reported missing in June 2010.
The body was found by hikers in a wooded area on Jan. 27, near the 4900 block of West 12th Street.
Deputies said last month there was a hole in the skull, but the nature of the hole was unclear.
Anyone with information about Martin or his death and disappearance is asked to call the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division at 918-596-8661. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
