Style Scene: Flirty, intimate gifts fun for Valentine's Day

With Valentine's Day this week, Muse Intimates Exquisite Lingerie's Deborah Croisant offered us some ideas for the gift giver in search of something on the more sensual side of the gift spectrum.
"Fun and flirty thoughts and actions are a great way to celebrate the day and make it memorable," Croisant said. "Small details like a love note or Valentine's Day card, beautiful flowers and especially seductive lingerie are all reflections of one's thoughts of their Valentine."
At Muse, a flirty gift could mean a Jimmy Jane Afterglow massage candle ($29) that melts to become massage oil.
"(And) if the budget permits, a beautiful coordinated bra and undie set makes a lovely gift for the special someone in your life," Croisant said. She said a tip for men when purchasing lingerie is to look for the tag inside of a bra that she wears frequently to locate the size - a number (e.g. 32, 34, 36) followed by a letter; panties may be sized small to extra large or 0-10.
Whatever is given this Valentine's Day, Croisant reminds everyone to put thought into the way the day is celebrated and really follow through, "just as both (people) should put thought into a relationship every day, not just Valentine's Day."
Runway-ready makeup
Women's wear designer Carmen Marc Valvo is dear to Tulsa's heart for his work with Oklahoma Project Woman, so when we saw images from Valvo's runway show during this year's New York Fashion Week, we had to share how to get the gorgeous look NARS created for the models who hit the catwalk.
"The collection is baroque with a punk edge, so we wanted the makeup to have that same feeling," says James Boehmer, NARS director of Global Artistry. "The eyeliner is a reference to a classic eyeline, but with a punk spirit, so it's not perfect, not delicate. The skin is very luminous; we talked about the girls looking slightly haunted, but in a pretty way."

Vestida Designs collection
The locally owned Vestida Designs debuts its spring and summer line beginning at 5 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Mayo Hotel, 115 W. Fifth St.
Vestida Designs, launched in August 2012, is owned by Maria Stevenson and her mother, Betty Stevenson, who creates the pieces. Maria Stevenson calls Vestida's line "vintage with a modern edge," and each piece is custom-fit.
Since their summer launch, the mother-daughter team have not stopped creating.
Vestida Designs has plans for expanding into a ready-to-wear line that can be found in upscale boutiques across the country.
The fashion show, featuring Vestida's spring and summer designs, runs from 5 to 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Complimentary champagne will be available with the show beginning at 6 p.m., and clothing orders can be placed following the show.

Warehouse Sale
Family & Children's Services is asking local retailers to clear their racks for its 10th Annual Abersons & Friends Warehouse Sale running March 27-29 at the F&CS central office, 650 S. Peoria Ave.
Local merchants can support the effort by donating unsold stock including home decor; housewares; men's, women's and children's clothing; accessories; and other items to F&CS. The agency will coordinate pick-up from stores, and participating retailers may take a tax deduction for any items they donate and will be listed in promotional materials.
More than 30 stores and hundreds of bargain hunters participated in last year's warehouse sale. Proceeds help F&CS provide counseling, treatment and support services to children who've been abused, families in crisis and individuals battling mental illness and addiction.
