Golf: OSU's Vines places second in tournament

Oklahoma State senior Kelsey Vines narrowly missed her second individual title in a row, finishing alone in second and one shot behind UCLA's Erynne Lee at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
Vines posted an even-par 71 during her final round to finish at 1-over 214. Lee carded a 69 to come in at 213. The Cowgirl senior opened with a bogey at the ninth before moving back to even par with a her first birdie of the day at the 15th. After a bogey at the 16th, Vines carded her second birdie of the day at the fourth before finishing with four-straight pars.
The Cowgirls closed with a 302 during the third round of action on Wednesday to finish eighth.
The Cowgirls' 64-over total of 916 put them five shots behind Arizona. UCLA won the event with an 870 total, while Southern California was the runner up, finishing with an 879 score.
