Balanced effort lifts TU over Houston

HOUSTON - Kelsee Grovey and Taleya Mayberry both netted double-digit points and Tiffani Couisnard pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Tulsa to a 59-55 win over Houston on Thursday at Hofheinz Pavilion.
"Tiffani is really a beast on the boards," Golden Hurricane head coach Matilda Mossman said. "When she goes up to get it, people don't take it away from her."
Grovey scored 16 points, including four 3-point baskets, while Mayberry tallied 11 points to lead the Hurricane (10-13 overall, 5-5 Conference USA).
With the loss, UH fell to 10-13 overall and 4-6 in the league.
Tulsa plays Rice at home at 2 p.m. Sunday.
