The principal at Rogers Early College Junior High and High School was just named Oklahoma’s high school principal of the year.

Selected for the 2014 honor by the Oklahoma Association of Secondary School Principals, Stacey Vernon is now eligible for the national principal of the year award sponsored by MetLife and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

“I view this as a tribute to the amazing staff and student body that we have at Will Rogers," Vernon said. "It is definitely a collaborative effort and they share this recognition with me.”

Vickie Williams, executive director of the state association, said Vernon was chosen from an outstanding pool of applicants from throughout the state. Other finalists were Todd Glasgow of Piedmont High School, Tracy Skinner of Deer Creek High School, and Patty Stanley of Newkirk High School.
