When I read Jay Cronley's column, ("Women aren't angling for bass," Feb. 8) I felt like I'd stepped back in time to the 1970s. Are you kidding me? Where has Cronley been the last 35 years? I was one of only two women (that I know of) in Oklahoma who fished in a man's world in the '70s; Kay Barton is the "other woman."

I fished tournaments for 35 years and took money away from those guys who said we could never compete in "their" world. I tried to fish BASS but was turned away. In the '70s women could not join the elite group of men who fished BASS. Guess they were a little intimidated, as well they should be.

Cronley needs to get his stats straight before signing off on his articles. If he ever saw my truck, he'd never forget it. It has bass and cattails hand-painted all over it.
