NORMAN (AP) - A Norman man has been charged with embezzling more than $43,000 from the Oklahoma Chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists.
Online court records show 45-year-old Scott Eric Cooper was charged Friday in Cleveland County District Court with taking $43,220 from July 2008 through April 2012.
The records do not list an attorney for Cooper and no listed phone number for him could be found.
An affidavit filed in the case that was first reported by The Norman Transcript says Cooper wrote in a letter to the SPJ board of directors that a gambling problem led to him taking the money.
Cooper faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted on the felony charge.
