Man killed in police shooting identified

The name of a man shot and killed by police at a Tulsa apartment complex Saturday night has been released.
Juan Antonio Gonzalez, 31, was fatally shot by Officer Daniel Madewell around 11 p.m. at the Coppermill Apartments, 7110 S. Granite Ave, according to department news releases.
Officers said Gonzalez aimed a weapon, originally thought to be a rifle, from a second-floor balcony immediately before the shooting. Tulsa police later determined the weapon was a BB gun.
Madewell is on administrative leave while the department and the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office investigate the incident.
Gonzalez’s roommate called police after Gonzalez chased him out of their second-floor apartment with a knife, police said previously.
The incident is the first officer-involved homicide in 2013.
