OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma committee that was formed to repel federal involvement in Oklahoma affairs is set to look at a bill prohibiting health care providers from asking their patients if they own a gun.
The House States' Rights Committee is scheduled to vote on Oklahoma City Republican Rep. Sally Kern's bill Tuesday.
The bill would exempt mental health care providers.
It is one of at least two dozen gun-related bills that are moving through the Legislature. Interest in gun rights and legislation spiked after a man shot and killed 20 children and six adults at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. last December.
