Editor's note: Jane Phillips Medical Center does accept Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance. A spokesman for the hospital says the hospital has, however, "declined further participation" in Blue Plan 65 Select, which is a supplemental plan offered by Blue Cross.
I have lived in Bartlesville all my life and have used Jane Phillips Hospital. My wife worked at this hospital for years and also worked as a volunteer there.
I received a letter from the hospital that it no longer accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, which we have carried for years.
Having contacted them I did not receive any reason why. My understanding is that St. John Medical Center in Tulsa has taken over Jane Phillips Hospital. If this is so, I believe we should receive some explanation about this and why.
Blue Cross Blue Shield is a large insurance company and has been fair with us through the years. We pay in excess of $4,000 per year for our supplemental insurance with them but a phone call to them did not result in an explanation.
Perhaps St. John does not know what is going on or does not care. If this has anything to do with its religious affiliation we need to know.
