For the second consecutive week, University of Tulsa forward D'Andre Wright has been voted the Conference USA basketball freshman of the week.

Since missing nine games because of a leg injury sustained in mid-December, the 6-foot-9 Wright has received extensive playing time in only two games. He excelled in both. Against Houston on Saturday, he scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. In the first triple-overtime home game in program history, the Golden Hurricane prevailed 101-92.

On Feb. 9, TU ended a three-game losing streak by winning 74-70 at UTEP. In that contest, Wright had a season-high total of 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting.

At 14-11 overall and 6-5 in the conference, TU resumes league play on Wednesday, when East Carolina visits for a 7 p.m. game at the Reynolds Center.

The Conference USA player of the week is Houston sophomore forward TaShawn Thomas, who against the Hurricane totaled 31 points and 15 rebounds. In a 73-58 victory over UTEP, he had 24 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.
