On Valentines Day, February 14, 2013, Audra “Sue” Herberger left this world to be with her husband, John Herberger, who passed away just four montbs earlier. Sue was born in Colcord, Oklahoma on May 20, 1934 as one of six children to Cora Thompson. After graduating Colcord High School in 1952, she attended Draughon’s Business School in Tulsa. She married the love or her life, John Herberger on July 8, 1955, and was married for 57 years until his death on October 17, 2012. They had two beloved daughters, Kathy Hess, husband Mike and Lisa Morrisett, husband Mark, and two wonderful granddaughters, Cori Powell, husband Jesse, and Carly Carver, husband John. They were also blessed to enjoy the light of their lives, two greatgrandchildren, Conner Powell and Harper Powell. Sue spent the majority of her working years at Amerada Hess until retiring to spend her time traveling with her husband and their many friends. Sue was an amazing cook, doting wife, mother and grandmother. Nana, as she was known to her family, had a cure for every ailment, a trick for any stain, a recipe for any dish and loving words to ease any pain. She was the quintessential “June Cleaver” as her family lovingly teased-and we will be lost in so many ways without our dear, sweet Nana. As part of her caring and giving spirit, Sue volunteered for the Tulsa County Election Board and Grace Hospice for many years. She also enjoyed helping others through her church, Jenks United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Herberger, her mother, Cora Thompson, brothers, Wayne Thompson and Wade Thompson and sister, Aline Wortham. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, Blake Thompson, wife Jewel and sister, Wilma Cargill, husband Jim, and many nieces and nephews. Sue’s family extends their gratitude to Grace Hospice of Tulsa and the staff at University Village Health Center for their compassion and loving care of Sue and her family. She will lie in state at Stanley Funeral Home from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 18 and Tuesday, February 19, with family receiving friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, at the Jenks United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Grace Hospice Foundation of Tulsa.
