Here's the cast of "Downton Abbey" doing something fans never thought they would see – the group covering One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful."

OK, it's not really the actors making a new video but a mashup created using scenes from the last three seasons of the hit British period drama and posted on youtube.com.

The series ended its seven-episode season Sunday on the Public Television with a record 8.2 million viewers. It was also the second most-watched television show on Super Bowl Sunday. Not the case in England: The same season finale episode, which aired on Christmas Day, drew only 7.3 million viewers.

Don’t look for a larger number of episodes next season. British television typically produces 4-6 episodes per season although the original version of "The Office" ran for 14 episodes. England does have some soap operas and dramas that air year-round but, in general, most shows don’t.

It is a less expensive plan for producing TV shows and it gives each series' one or two writers and its actors time to work on other projects.

"Downton Abbey" will return for a fourth season in September in Britain and January 2014 in the United States.
