Concerning the Jenks bond issue: The Tulsa World reported Feb. 10 that the money would go toward maintenance of buildings and equipment, computer hardware and software, library books, etc. - all good education stuff. What the report omitted to mention is that the issue would also be used to purchase "golf land" and "locker room building" - whatever those items might mean and how much money is to be devoted to them.
The bond issue passed Feb. 12, as all Jenks bonds do.
Disregarding the magnitude of property already devoted to Jenks athletics, I resent the fact that voters are not told in any detail what they are voting for. On the ballots, club houses and athletic fields are usually hidden behind school books and computer equipment. Perhaps the bond issues would still be passed, but the process would be more honest.
