The Signature Symphony's "New Dimensions" series will examine music from its earliest incarnation to the brand-new, with a program titled "And They Called It Music" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the VanTrease PACE, 10300 E. 81st St.

Artistic director Barry Epperley will trace the evolution of music from the sounds made from striking rocks together to the performance of a new chamber music composition by Tulsa composer Joseph Rivers, whose two symphonies were premiered by the Signature Symphony.

Tickets are $5-$20 and are available by calling 918-595-7777 or at tulsaworld.com/mytix
