Premier Popcorn, a shop that opened in the fall downtown, has closed, but the owner plans to open another location at Woodland Hills Mall next month.

The store's main location is still at 3711 S. Harvard Ave., where it offers as many as 36 flavors of popcorn including salt-and-vinegar, caramel apple, jalapeno cheddar and cinnamon bun.

The shop downtown opened between Main Street and Boulder Avenue on Fifth Street the first week in November. Popcorn was made at the location on Harvard and transported to the downtown store to be sold in bags and tins of various sizes.

Owner Tom Phillips said the downtown business was not feasible and closed Friday.

He said they plan to relocate to Woodland Hills Mall on March 25.

Phillips was inspired to open the popcorn shop by the popularity of the caramel popcorn that his mother made for family members.
