TU women falter at SMU

SMU broke open a close game with a strong push in the final minutes as it defeated Tulsa 69-60 in women's college basketball Thursday night in Dallas.

Freshmen Ashley Clark scored a team-high 20 points for TU (11-14, 6-6 in Conference USA), while Jasmine Vasquez added 12.

Tulsa senior guard Taleya Mayberry, who had started all 105 games of her career, missed her first collegiate game due to injury. She is expected to return for TU's game Sunday at Tulane.

Tulsa went on a 12-0 run midway through the second half to tie the score at 51-51 with 9:45 to play. However, SMU answered with a 14-3 run to retake control.

Keena May scored 29 points to lead SMU (20-5, 11-1).
