Letter to the Editor: Real courage

After watching the "60 Minutes" piece on Mercy Ships recently, I was moved by that group's compassion and love for what it does. I would suggest that our government could take the millions of dollars we give the United Nations to only support other governments and instead give those dollars to an organization that really, really helps people, not its government.
Mercy Ships helps the people like none other I can relate to. Its members live on their ship, helping those who have no other place to turn. The doctors, surgeons and nurses are simply amazing and courageous human beings.
