Kiefer coach Lense Ramey was concerned about how his team would respond in a Class 2A regional game Friday afternoon after an emotional loss against second-ranked Ketchum the previous night.

"They did a great job of bouncing back," Ramey said after a 44-39 victory over Summit Christian at Rogers. "They played with a lot of energy after laying it on the line against Ketchum."

Ramey's freshman son, Lense, had 22 points and Kyle Howard added 17 for the Trojans (20-5).

"The hard part was waking up early for school," the younger Ramey said after a shorter than usual night of sleep. "We played pretty good in the first half. I was hoping it would be more comfortable at the end, but we knew Summit was going to be tough."

Kiefer never trailed after it reeled off 11 straight points following the opening basket by Summit's Jeremy Pelotte. Ramey's final trey made it 35-22 late in the third quarter.

Summit cut its deficit to 40-36 on Pelotte's two free throws with 3:55 left. Ramey countered with a basket off of an Austin Ford steal and Howard made two free throws with 56 seconds left for a 44-36 advantage.

J.T. Lawson led the Eagles (13-13) with 12 points and Pelotte scored 11.

Kiefer will play Rogers (18-7) at 3 p.m. Saturday. Dedric Cherry scored 24 to lead Rogers past Foyil 63-51.
