I have repeatedly called our local representative, Rep. David Derby, R-Owasso, to express my disappointment in his support of the proposed horse slaughter legislation, House Bill 1999, authored by Rep. Skye McNiel, R-Bristow. Since I live in Derby's district and voted for him, I was hoping for at least some response.
Isn't it unethical for politicians (McNiel) to propose a bill that would ultimately benefit them financially? Where is the "money trail" on this? I raise horses and have lived in Oklahoma for 50 years and this whole idea is disgusting.
Please, let's do something in Oklahoma that we can be proud of - not this.
