The looming sequestration is a shameful act by Congress, which, unfortunately, went on vacation. Average salary in Congress is a minimum $174,000 per year.
Ee are willing to let the many millionaires/billionaires continue to pay little in taxes while the bulk of the American people (in particular the middle class - let's not even talk about the one in eight children who go to bed hungry every night) are going to suffer job loss and threats to the benefits earned through taxes. Again the downtrodden in America are going to suffer even more.
Why do we continue to pander to the rich while the poor suffer? What is wrong with our so-called "leaders" in Congress? It isn't complicated. The rich (who basically own Congress) continue to get richer and the poor continue to grow in number.
The U.S. should not have people living below the poverty level. We boast that we are the greatest nation in the world but I'm having my doubts when I witness the suffering of the common man.
Our "leaders" continue to fight any form of comprehensive health care. And they continue to fight against any form of gun control (more than 1,700 have died by gunshots since Sandy Hook.)
Congress is bought and run not by the people of the U.S. but rather by the rich whose lobbyists direct the action in Washington. It is shameful.
