Weber State hit seven 3-pointers in a 10-minute span of the second half and dealt Oral Roberts a 70-66 defeat in an ESPN BracketBusters game Saturday at the Mabee Center.
ORU led by seven points at halftime and was ahead by three points with 15 minutes remaining.
That’s when Weber State -- which leads the nation in field goal percentage and ranks third in 3-point percentage -- started dropping bombs. The Wildcats got 21 of their next 25 points on 3-pointers and led by nine points with 4:53 left. The Golden Eagles never got closer than four the rest of the way.
Weber State won a seventh consecutive game in improving to 20-5. The Wildcats clinched their fifth 20-win season in the last seven years.
ORU dropped to 17-11.
It was the final home game in the careers of ORU seniors Damen Bell-Holter and Warren Niles, who were honored in a postgame ceremony. Shawn Glover led the Golden Eagles with 16 points.
